Choosing a Plasterboard Finish
AS/NZS 2589, the Australian and New Zealand Standard for plasterboard walls and ceilings, sets out several levels of finish. Our plasterers work to it and will suggest a finish level that suits how light falls in each room and the paint you have in mind.
Level 3: Basic plasterboard finish
Joints and fixings are set, which suits garages, storerooms and areas that will be heavily textured or where looks matter less.
Level 4: Standard plasterboard finish
Right for walls and ceilings in flat or low-sheen paint with ordinary light. Most homes are finished to this level.
Most commonLevel 5: Premium smooth plaster finish
The whole surface gets a skim coat. Best under critical lighting, or where gloss or semi-gloss paint is used.
