Plaster Levels for Paint
Under AS/NZS 2589, the Australian/New Zealand standard, plasterboard is finished to set levels. The right level depends on your paint sheen and how light falls on the wall, and we help you choose before painting starts.
Level 3: Basic plaster
Joints and screws are set. Suits garages, sheds and storerooms, or walls that will get a heavy textured coating.
Level 4: Standard plaster
The usual choice for homes. It works well with flat or low-sheen paint where the lighting is ordinary.
Most homesLevel 5: Smoothest plaster finish
The whole surface gets a thin skim coat. Choose it for gloss or semi-gloss paint, or where strong light rakes across.

Can one team plaster and paint my walls?
Yes. Our plasterers and painters work together, so a new wall or a repair is set, sanded, sealed and painted by one crew.
Are your painters licensed?
Yes. NSW Fair Trading requires a contractor licence for painting work over $5,000 in labour and materials (including GST). All Paintworx Pty Ltd holds NSW Licence No. 393197C.
Do your painters clean up afterwards?
Yes. We cover floors and furniture while we work, then tidy the rooms and take our rubbish away when the painting is finished.
Why does new plasterboard need sealing?
Fresh plaster and paper soak up paint unevenly. A sealer coat evens out the surface, so the top coats dry to a consistent colour and sheen.

Gosford, Woy Woy, Umina Beach, Erina, Terrigal and Kincumber in the south, and Wyong, Tuggerah, The Entrance, Lake Haven, Toukley and Warnervale in the north.
