Plastering Services for Central Coast Homes

New build, extension or a makeover of an older place, our team lines and finishes the walls and ceilings so they come out flat, smooth and ready to paint.

Plasterboard lines the inside of most homes in Australia, and you might know it as gyprock, drywall or wallboard. Every sheet is a gypsum core wrapped in tough paper on each face. The long edges are tapered, so after fixing we fill each join with plaster, then sand it back flush, leaving no visible seams.

After painting, plasterboard walls look smooth and continuous. You can also hang wallpaper on them or add a textured coat by spray or roller.

The Right Plasterboard Finish Level

AS/NZS 2589, the Australian and New Zealand Standard, describes finish levels for plasterboard on walls and ceilings. We work to it and help you pick the level that suits each room, based on its light and the paint you plan to use.

Level 3: Basic plasterboard finish

Joins and fixings are set, suited to spots getting a heavy texture or where looks matter less, like garages and storerooms.

Level 5: Premium, smoothest ceilings

The entire surface gets a thin skim coat. Best for critical lighting, or for gloss and semi-gloss paint.

Lighting, Paint & a Better Plaster Finish

Critical lighting is light that runs nearly parallel across a wall or ceiling, and it makes tiny flaws stand out. Sorting out lights and paint at the same time as the plastering pays off.

Plan Lighting for Smooth Ceilings

Set light fittings into the ceiling
Spread more lights evenly to cut down shadows
Drop fluorescent fittings roughly 450 mm below the ceiling
Aim spotlights away from grazing the walls
Pick gentle light over harsh effects
Avoid end-of-wall windows, or shade them

Paint or Wallpaper for Your Walls

Matt paint hides flaws; gloss and semi-gloss reveal them
Paler colours spread light and show fewer marks
Flaws show up more on ceilings than on walls
Patterned or textured wallpaper covers small flaws
A roller with a longer nap hides more
Choose the finish level for each room while planning

Yes. Gyprock is a popular plasterboard brand, and the product also goes by drywall or wallboard. It is a gypsum core covered in strong paper, and most homes around Australia use it for their walls and ceilings.

Yes. We line and finish the walls and ceilings in new houses and additions, and we work with builders and other trades on home building and renovation jobs.

Yes. We cut out the damaged part, fit new plasterboard and set the joins so the repair blends into the surrounding ceiling. We also repair ceilings damaged by storms and roof leaks.

Level 4 under AS/NZS 2589 is what most homes are finished to, and it suits a flat or low-sheen paint in everyday light. If a wall or ceiling sits under critical lighting, or you have picked a gloss or semi-gloss, the smoothest surface comes from Level 5. We help you choose for each room.

Yes. As well as ceiling roses and classic decorative cornices, we create square set and shadow line details for a crisp, modern style.

When light strikes a surface at a shallow angle, for example from a window at a wall’s end or a poorly aimed spotlight, small flaws look much bigger. Choosing lights and paint sheen together with the finish level helps a lot.
